Andrew Slack (Partner)
Andrew is Head of the firm's Food and Agriculture
Sector Group. He has a substantial portfolio of clients in the
rural sector including commercial farms, landed estates and
agribusinesses.
Experience
Andrew joined us at Grant Thornton in 1979 as an agricultural
specialist. He obtained an honours degree in agriculture from
Nottingham University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in
1974. After qualification, Andrew worked as Chief Accountant for
the farm management division of the Nickerson Group. He has written
many articles and given many presentations on accounting and
taxation issues in agriculture. Andrew has considerable experience
in problem solving, tax planning and strategic advice on a wide
range of issues for agribusinesses and estate owning clients. He
combines an awareness of commercial issues in the rural sector with
a sound knowledge of tax to produce practical solutions.
Andrew is a member of the Country Land and Business Association
(CLA) and the National Farmers Union (NFU) and is a former member
of both organisations Taxation Committees. He is a member of the
Farmers Club and the Worshipful Company of Farmers.
Andrew's expertise covers:
- Commercial knowledge of farming and the food chain
- Private client services, including farm accounts, audit,
partnership agreements, capital and income taxes, land transactions
and diversification, succession planning, trusts and the skills
required in co-ordinating the interaction of these issues
- Agricultural forensic accounting assignments including farming
divorce and loss of profit
